If you have been in the lash extension business for some time, you have probably seen more than your fair share of customers who came in unsure of what they wanted than you care to admit.
At this juncture, it is crucial that you offer your expert viewpoint. Your work will be simplified greatly if you are familiar with the key distinctions between the types of lash extensions available. You will be able to provide your customer expert advice just by looking at their eyelashes once you have spent some time in the industry.
Four different types of lash extensions are discussed here: classic, volume, mixed, and mega volume. For those who are passionate about eyelashes, these are the best choices. To become an expert lash artist, you must understand their functionality too.
Classic Eyelash Extensions
The 1 to 1 or 1:1 name is another name for the classic lash extension type. The logic behind these seemingly mathematical terms is that one piece of lash extension is glued to one natural lash to create the classic style. The lashes used to achieve this style are typically the thickest on the market, measuring in at 0.15 mm to 0.18 mm in diameter.
Volume Eyelash Extensions
Several lash extensions can be applied to a single natural lash, which is what makes the volume lash style so intriguing. For the volume type, a typical fan (the quantity of false lashes used to mimic a genuine lash) has anywhere from three to eight synthetic lashes. Create a fan and easily apply it on your lashes with the pinching method. Volume lash extensions are so well-liked because they give the wearer’s own lashes a dramatic enhancement.
Mixed Eyelash Extension Styles
The term “mixed lashes,” which can alternatively be called “hybrid lashes,” is a more recent addition to the lash industry dictionary. Moreover, they are the most challenging to manufacture as compared to the other lash extension forms. Do not be intimidated, though. With experience, you can achieve the stunning, spiked style for which mixies are famous.
These eyelash extension styles combine the classic and the volume types are known as mixed lashes. Amazingly, this type of lash extensions enhances the appearance of one’s own lashes by lengthening and thickening them. If you are doing a 1:1 application, stick with the 0.15 to 0.18mm lashes you normally use for the classic. However, if you want to create volume by making fans, switch to the 0.05 to 0.07mm lashes.
Mega Volume Eyelash Extension Styles
The mega volume is a more advanced variant of the volume eyelash extension type. In contrast, each of the mega volume fans can contain up to 20 individual eyelashes (compared to 4-8 lashes used for the volume style). The similar pinching technique is used to create fluffy giant fans by lash artists. Mega volume should be created with ultra-fine lashes so as not to damage the natural lashes. It is recommended that a diameter of 0.03mm be used when making these lash extensions.
